Sweet Potato Honey Bun Cake

A warm, cinnamon-swirled, sweet-potato-blended cake with a sticky honey glaze that tastes like a hug from the inside.

🛒 Ingredients
Cake Batter
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup mashed sweet potatoes (cooked & cooled)
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup milk
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Swirl
1 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
½ cup melted butter
Honey Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp honey
2–3 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
½ tsp vanilla extract

1. Make the Cake Batter
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 baking pan.
In a bowl, whisk together cake mix, mashed sweet potatoes, oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
2. Create the Cinnamon Swirl


In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
Mix until it resembles a thick pourable paste.
3. Assemble the Cake
Pour half the cake batter into the pan.
Spoon half the cinnamon mixture on top and gently swirl with a knife.
Add the remaining cake batter, then swirl again with the rest of the cinnamon mixture.
4. Bake
Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
5. Make the Honey Glaze
Whisk powdered sugar, honey, milk, and vanilla until smooth and drizzle-ready.
Adjust thickness with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
6. Glaze & Serve
Pour glaze over the warm cake and let it soak into every swirl and crevice.
Slice into squares and enjoy!
