2 green bell peppers, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons freshly minced garlic

Instructions
1. Prep and Cook Filling:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch or similar 2-quart baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef for 5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
Add the sliced onion and bell peppers to the skillet. Continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are tender.
Stir in the minced garlic and seasoned salt, cooking for 1 more minute until fragrant. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
2. Assemble the Casserole:
Transfer the hot meat and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Arrange the slices of provolone cheese in a single layer, completely covering the meat mixture.
3. Add the Egg Custard:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream (or milk), and Worcestershire sauce until smooth and well-combined.
Slowly and evenly pour the egg mixture over the cheese and meat layers.
4. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown, the edges are bubbling, and the center is completely set (a knife inserted should come out clean).
5. Cool and Serve:
Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows it to set for cleaner serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Tips & Variations
Cheese: For extra cheesiness, add a ½ cup of shredded mozzarella or white cheddar under the provolone slices.
Bread Option: For a heartier meal, layer 2 cups of cubed French bread or hoagie rolls in the bottom of the dish before adding the meat mixture.
Spice it Up: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat or substitute one green pepper for a jalapeño.
Make Ahead: Assemble the casserole (without baking) up to a day in advance. Cover and refrigerate, then bake as directed, adding 5-10 minutes to the baking time if starting cold.
Enjoy this delicious, all-in-one twist on a classic sandwich!
