Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) pork sausage
3 tsp minced garlic
2 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
1 cup milk
3 whole eggs
2 cups biscuit or pastry mix
¾ tsp dried sage
½ tsp black pepper

Cook the sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded cheese. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch deep pie dish.Prepare the custard:
In a small bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, biscuit/pastry mix, sage, and pepper until smooth. Pour this mixture over the sausage and cheese in the pie dish.Bake the pie:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.Add the finishing touch:
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for an additional 1–2 minutes, until the cheese melts. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
