Monterey Sausage Pie

A comforting, cheesy pie that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner! This sage-and-onion inspired recipe brings together sausage, eggs, and Monterey Jack cheese with a hint of spice. Serve it alongside your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.

Why We Love It:
Hearty, cheesy, and full of classic British flavors—sweet sage, tangy English mustard, and a subtle hint of horseradish—this pie is a true crowd-pleaser.

  1. Cook the sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded cheese. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch deep pie dish.

  2. Prepare the custard:
In a small bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, biscuit/pastry mix, sage, and pepper until smooth. Pour this mixture over the sausage and cheese in the pie dish.

  3. Bake the pie:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. Add the finishing touch:
Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for an additional 1–2 minutes, until the cheese melts. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Serving Suggestion: Pair with your favorite steamed or roasted vegetables for a wholesome, delicious meal.
