I always threw away the oil cap: a colleague explained to me what it was really used for

Description

This cork has always infuriated me, because sometimes it has to be pulled forcefully and quite abruptly, which leads to spills of

oil. And sometimes the ring breaks and then it is very difficult to open the oil. But not too long ago, I found out why it was really necessary.

Now, I’m going to tell you everything in detail. The fact is that the plug must be put back in its place, but before that, you must return it.

After that, press the cap on the inside of the

bottle so that it is fixed between the slots.

Since the plug is asymmetrical, there is always a small gap left.

This space allows the oil to be dosed, i.e. it will be poured in a thin stream.

If you often cook with oil in small bottles, you’ve probably noticed that there’s a plastic ring under the cap of your oil bottle. While you might think that it is good to put in the trash, find its usefulness in this article.

You have probably already noticed small plastic tabs on oil bottles several times. Maybe you even ignored them, thinking that they served no purpose other than to complicate the opening of the bottle. Well, think again! These tabs have a very real use and can make your life easier in the kitchen. So, before you throw them in the trash, find out why they are worth keeping.

A tongue with a dual role
The tongue plays an important role in the oil preservation process. It acts as an airtight seal, preventing air from entering the inside of the bottle. Air can be harmful to the oil, as it can accelerate its oxidation and alter its flavor. It ensures better oil preservation and extends its life.

When you want to prepare a recipe that only requires a drizzle of oil, it is sometimes difficult to control the amount that flows from the bottle. As a result, we always end up putting more than we need. But thanks to the plastic tab inside the bottle, below the cap, this problem will be solved very quickly.

Indeed, the small ring allows the bottle spout to be partially blocked, and therefore, to control more easily, the amount of

oil for pouring. This way, you can pour this liquid without losing a single drop. Pretty practical, right!?

However, be careful not to press the tab too hard so that it does not push it into the inside of the bottle. To do this, simply press gently and lightly.

Avoiding oil splashes and waste
You have probably already poured oil into a pan or on the food to be cooked, when suddenly, accidentally, you pressed too vigorously on the bottle, pouring too much oil in the process. Result? You end up with splashes everywhere, especially on your clothes and on the hob.

In this case, it will be enough to simply remove the ring and then put it back upside down, to prevent any risk of waste or splashes. This will save you money and avoid this type of accident.
