Slow-fermented baguette like in a bakery đ
Ingredients:
400 g white flour (approx. 4 cups)
300 g water (approx. 2 cups)
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 level teaspoon dry baker’s yeast
Preparation:
1. Prepare the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
Gradually add the water and continue stirring with a wooden spoon or by hand.
Once the dough is smooth, add the oil and mix well.
2. Kneading and slow fermentation:
Knead lightly until a sticky, well-hydrated dough is formed.
Cover the bowl with cling film or a clean cloth.
Let rise in the refrigerator for 16 hours. This step allows the aromas to develop and a pleasant honeycomb structure is created.
3. Design and second rise:
After fermentation, take the dough out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Sprinkle the work surface with flour and divide the dough into three or four equal portions.
Shape each portion into a baguette by carefully lengthening it.
Place the baguettes on a floured cloth or in a baking pan and cover. Let rise for another 1 to 2 hours.
4. Cooking:
Preheat the oven to 240°C. Place a bowl of water on the bottom of the oven to create steam.
Use a sharp knife to make incisions in the baguettes.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool on a wire rack before eating.
An ordinary morning can quickly turn into a nightmare: a flat tire, no spare tire, and still a long way to go. This situation is stressful, but it is not a dead end. Did you know that there are solutions even without changing the tire?
Mistakes to avoid if you have a flat tire

The first reaction to a flat tire is often to drive slowly to a workshop. Bad idea! If you continue to drive with a flat tire, the rim can be damaged, which increases repair costs. In addition, a makeshift repair without the right tools can make the problem worse.
How can we get through this with peace of mind?
The modern solution: tubeless tire repair kits
Tubeless tires, which can be found on most modern cars, can be repaired quickly with special kits. These kits, available from car dealers, include everything needed for temporary repairs:
- A needle and reinforced wicks : to close the hole.
- Special glue : which seals the repair.
How does it work?

- Identify the puncture by looking at the object that is causing the puncture (nail, screw, etc.).
- Clean the area around the hole.
- Put some glue on a wick and insert it into the hole with the needle.
- Remove the excess air and inflate the tire with an air bottle or mini compressor.
In less than 20 minutes, you’ll be ready to drive again, at least until the next garage.
The old-fashioned way: DIY with a screw
What if you don’t have a kit on hand? A simple screw can save your day.
- Find the hole in the tire.
- Screw in a screw slightly larger than the hole to prevent air from escaping.
- If necessary, borrow a screw that allows you to attach a non-essential part of your car, such as the plastic sills.
This temporary solution is far from perfect, but it is enough to drive a few kilometers to a workshop.
Prevention is better than cure.

To avoid having to deal with this type of situation in the future:
- Invest in a repair kit and a portable compressor. These tools take up little space and are often cheaper than a tow truck.
- Check your tyres regularly. Wear and tear or objects that get stuck in the grooves can cause punctures.
- Think of the puncture repair spray. It is fast and effective and can temporarily repair small perforations.
If you have a flat tire, stress is normal, but panic doesn’t solve anything. With these tips in mind, you’ll be ready to face the unexpected like a pro!
