A 5-ingredient no-bake treat that’s always fesTIVE

I absolutely love to bake around the holidays, but my long-standing favorite treat that time of year is actually one that needs no baking at all — Butterscotch Ting-a-lings. They’re a treat that goes by many names and are nostalgic for many of us. For me, they bring me right back to being in my grandma’s kitchen decades ago and helping her spoon these out of the bowl. These have an irresistible peanut butter/butterscotch flavor and plenty of crunch, but the best news might be that you only need five ingredients and about fifteen minutes to make them.

What Ingredients Do You Need for Butterscotch Ting-a-lings?
It’s true! You only need five ingredients. They are:
- A package of butterscotch baking chips.
- Creamy peanut butter. (Use something like Jif or Skippy… they work better than natural varieties for candy.)
- Crispy chow mein noodles.
- Peanuts.
- Mini marshmallows.

How Do You Make Butterscotch Ting-a-lings?
Gosh, it’s so easy. You don’t need to go near that oven, just your stovetop for a few minutes. Here’s what you do:
In a big ol’ pot, melt the peanut butter and the butterscotch chips together over a low-ish heat until they’re fully combined and smooth. Then, take that pot off the heat and stir in the chow mein noodles, the peanuts, and the mini marshmallows. You want to make sure to do this off the heat because you don’t want to risk melting those marshmallows.

For this part, you want to work pretty quickly:
Using two big spoons, drop the mixture into small mounds onto a baking sheet that’s lined with wax or parchment paper. And keep going until you’ve used it all up. Then, just let it sit.

After about an hour, the mixture will have hardened back up, but you can speed that process up a bit in the fridge if you’d like.

These are the perfect addition to any holiday cookie plate, especially when you’re baking other varieties. They’re loved by kids and adults and they’re a great option for kids to help with! Enjoy!
