Mint syrup - Grandma Marysia's homemade recipe

Description

Ingredients:
2 large bunches of fresh mint (about 100 g of leaves)
1 liter of water
1 kg of sugar
1 lemon (or juice of 1 lemon)
optional: 1 tablespoon of citric acid (for better shelf life)
Preparation:
Rinse the mint thoroughly under cold water.

Remove the leaves from the stems (the stems can also be added, but they will give less flavor).

Boil water with sugar until the sugar dissolves completely.

Remove from heat and add mint and sliced lemon.

Cover and set aside in a cool place for 12–24 hours (the longer the longer, the more intense the flavor).

After standing, strain the syrup through cheesecloth or a fine strainer.

Add citric acid if necessary and reheat (but do not boil).

Pour the hot syrup into sterilized bottles or jars.

Seal and set aside to cool or pasteurize for 10 minutes.

Storage:

Store in a cool, dark place for up to several months.
Refrigerate after opening.
How to use?

Cold water + syrup = perfect lemonade!
Perfect for ice cream, tea, drinks, or even desserts and cakes.
Enjoy the flavor with me!

Enjoy your meal!
